  1. Pick up the tooth by the enamel or the top part of the tooth to avoid damaging the root
  2. Do not touch the root of the tooth as this can cause damage
  3. If the tooth is dirty, wash under cold running water for 10 seconds
  4. Place the tooth back into the socket if possible, and ask your child to gently bite on it
  5. If you are unable to reposition the tooth into the socket, keep it moist in a container of milk
  6. When bringing the knocked out tooth to the dentist, transport it in a glass of milk
  7. For ‘baby’ teeth do not try to reposition the tooth as it may cause damage to the permanent teeth which are forming in the gum.
  8. Seek advice from your dental professional as soon as possible
